September 12, 2011 Announcements

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS! Place your class ring order with the Herff Jones representatives this week on Tuesday and Wednesday during your lunch at Mall Days in the cafeteria. They will size your finger and help with your order. You will need a small deposit and don't forget you get a FREE Class Hoodie with your ring order. Rings need to be ordered on these two days to ensure they will be completed by the Ring Delivery date in December. Extra ring information packets can be picked up in the office.

LIBERTY BELL CROSS COUNTRY MEET: Staff and Students: The Liberty Bell Cross Country Meet will be Friday, Sept. 16th. The meet will start at 3:30 p.m. This year’s meet will host over 89 schools and 3,000 runners. If you park in the teacher parking lot or on the street on Gallup, please move your car by 2:30 p.m. as the finish line and finish chute must be set up. If you do not move your car by that time, you will be blocked in until 7:00 p.m. Thanks for your help in regard to this large and exciting race.

The PSAT Test is coming soon! We are offering the Practice SAT Exam on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at HHS. The cost for this exam is $20, and you can sign up with payment in the Counseling Office starting on September 26th. We will take students on a first come, first served basis until we run out of tests. The PSAT is designed for juniors, as students will receive valuable feedback on areas needing further preparation prior to the SAT. Juniors with scores in the top 5% of national test takers will qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Sophomores are welcome to take this practice test for some early experience in a standardized, timed test setting. See your counselor if you have any questions.

RACHEL’S CHALLENGE: I would like every advisory to continue the chain reaction by writing acts of kindness on colorful strips of paper. Link them together and bring them to room 314 to link up with our chain which is now over 40 feet long. Let’s make the chain as long as possible this week, and then we’ll hang it from the rafters in the student center. Thank you to all those advisories that have already contributed.

GERMAN CLUB is starting for this year. Please come to our first meeting on Thursday, September 22. We’ll meet in room 307 after school at 2:30 for snacks and German fun. You don’t have to be taking a German class to be a member of the German Club. Come and bring your friends! See you then.

FRESHMAN PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Hey Freshmen! Have you dreamed of being served by an upperclassman? Well, on Wednesday, September 21, (the late start morning) is your chance! Come down to the Student Center at 8:00 a.m. with your student I.D. to be served yummy pancakes by your fellow Link Leaders. Kick back, relax, and enjoy time with friends while having a great breakfast! Just make sure to show up on time because pancakes will not be served after 9:00 a.m.
COME TO BOWLING CLUB! Bowling Club now meets on Thursdays after school at AMC Broadway Bowl located on the east side of Broadway, north of Littleton Blvd. behind the Dairy Queen. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS: The first meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, September 14 in the third floor lecture hall IMMEDIATELY after school. Please be on time so that we can finish as quickly as possible.

KEY CLUB: Key Club is hosting a school supply drive for our sister school in Sierra Leone. Please donate composition notebooks, pencils, pens, and math tools to the boxes around the school by Friday, September 16th. Our goal is to send a notebook to all 350 students at the school. Let’s make this a great start to the school year for our friends in Africa!
