Excusing Your Student for an Appointment
If your student has an appointment that will cause him/her to miss class time, please:
1. Phone the appointment information into the attendance office 24 hours in advance: 303-734-6700
a. Include the time your student needs to leave and the time you expect them to return to school.
b. If a message is left on the recorder the day of the appointment, it may not be retrieved until after your student needs to leave.
2. A pass will be prepared and waiting in the attendance office for your student to pick up first thing in the morning.
3. Your student needs to give the pass to the appropriate teacher before class begins so the student can leave class with minimal interruption.
4. Upon returning to school, your student must check in at the attendance office, even if it is during an off hour or passing period. Failure to do so may result in an unexcused absence.
IF YOU ARRIVE AT SCHOOL TO PICK YOUR STUDENT UP WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE A DELAY THAT COULD CAUSE YOU TO BE LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE DOES NOT ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE AVAILABLE TO RUN PASSES TO CLASSROOMS.
Thank you for your cooperation!

COLLEGE APPLICATION MONTH: During the month of October, College In Colorado will be sponsoring College Application Month (CAM). All seniors expected to graduate in 2012 will be encouraged to use the tools available on CollegeInColorado.org to apply for admission to a college or university in Colorado or out-of-state, if they have not already done so. This event is possible due to the collaborative efforts of the administration, faculty, and staff at Heritage High School, as well as students, their families, and volunteers across the community.

The purpose of this month is to prepare students for the process of applying, the tools to prepare and to communicate the importance of applying to college. In order to participate fully, students will need to have a CollegeInColorado.org account. Also available is a College Application Month Calendar and Checklist for students to download at CICCollegeAppMonth.org. We are encouraging all students to print and complete the task on the College Application Month Calendar and/or Checklist prior to applying- as it has all the information students will need to complete applications. We anticipate that students and their families will need to work together in gathering some of the information listed in the College Application Month Calendar.

If you have any questions please call Katy Miller, Counselor at 303-347-7616. Thank you in advance for your support of this exciting initiative to encourage Colorado’s students to make college a part of their future.
